The Tejon pass with Lupin!
Priest Valley! So green!
Finally we hit the 101 and had only lost 30minutes in our travels by taking the 198. We picked up our packets but another adventure was at hand. There were no more pro parking passes so we contacted the race director, Kendra. She totally hooked us up however on the way to getting this little situation resolved we had another adventure. We had already left the raceway parking and were trying to take a “shortcut” back and found ourselves on a road that was really narrow, had no other cars and lots of people walking. And of course, the two guys we stopped to ask if they had seen any other cars on the road were foreign. Below is the sign that we finally reached at the bridge. When we got to this sign we were dying with laughter. Like I said before, never a dull moment!
See the big NO?
Does this look like a road cars should be on? The van fit!
We finally made it to our host family house which was only 5 minutes away from the course, rockin’!
The Vollstedts were the best family. We had a great pre-race dinner of pasta and meat sauce and a wonderful homemade cake dessert. I called it “hotel Vollstedt” because when we went to bed they had put on the mattress heater and the beds were cozy warm. With the weather in the low 50s this was awesome. Off to bed we went as we had an early rise with a 10:15am start time.
